Puerto Rico: a 5 Star Vacation Destination | Captain Dan’s Travel Tips

This entry is part [part not set] of 1 in the series Captain Dan's Travel Tips

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Puerto Rico, The All-Star Island for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Today I want to tell you about Puerto Rico: Live your own 5-star vacation story in Puerto Rico. For nearly 35 years I have traveled the world flying for a major airline. The Carribean islands and it’s beautiful blue water has always been one of my favorite areas. Whether it was for work or for personal vacations, this is a region I have always enjoyed. I remember spending my 18th birthday in San Juan and have been back many times since.

Puerto Rico is truly a 5-star vacation destination filled with world-class attractions. Whether you’re a golfer, foodie, the adventurous type, or a beach or rum bum, Puerto Rico has everything that you want in a vacation. Just hop on a plane and go! There are many gateway cities in North America with non-stop service to San Juan so it is easy to get to.

Don’t forget that Puerto Rico has been a territory of the United States since its secession from Spain in the late 1800’s. This means there is no need for Passports or foreign money. This sets Puerto Rico apart from most of the rest of the Carribean where customs can be a real hassle. Experience an exotic island without ever leaving the country. In addition, the short flight from the mainland makes travel to Puerto Rico extremely easy.

Once you arrive, there are few things you must do: Puerto Rico is filled with world-class attractions that will make any vacation a 5-star story. Puerto Rico’s 270 miles of coastline boasts several beaches including Flamenco Beach in Culebra, which was featured in the Travel Channel’s Top 10 beaches. I have been to Flamenco Beach and it truely is a must see destination. While enjoying this beautiful coastline, make sure to take time to glow like an angel in one of their Bioluminescent bays too.

Puerto Rico boasts the only rainforest in the US national park service. Make sure to climb into the clouds when you visit. If hiking isn’t your thing, enjoy a horse back ride or explore the magnificent Camuy caverns that run through the third largest subterranean river in the world.

If the coastline, rain forests, and other natural wonders aren’t enough, there is always the history and old world charm of the islands capital, San Juan. Take a trip back into Spanish Colonial times with a walk through the historic you Old SanJuan..  Fly a kite at El Morro Castle. Explore the streets of Old San Juan and will find plenty of great options for you foodies! Plus, Puerto Rico is famous for its Rums; a nice way to cleanse the pallet.

Ok, this post is getting a little longer than usual, but that’s because I really LOVE this place and want to go back. How about this: Go to Live your own 5-star vacation story in Puerto Rico. and share your favorite part of Puerto Rico in the comments below.
