Instructions:
Homemade Jalapeño Butter:
In a mason jar, combine the heavy whipping cream and minced jalapeño.
Shake until liquid separates, forming whipped butter.
Sandwich:
Cook bacon in a cast iron pan, and crumble 2 strips into pieces after cooking.
Spread jalapeno butter on bottom side of two slices of the bread. Place two pieces of Chipotle Gouda Cheese and crumbled bacon on each of the non-buttered sides of bread. Top with remaining slices of bread, and spread jalapeno butter on top. Grill in cast iron pan until both sides of grilled cheese sandwiches are golden brown.
Set sandwiches aside.
In another cast iron pan, melt one tablespoon jalapeño butter on medium heat. Sauté the Blackened Oven Roasted Turkey Breast and jalapeño coins until golden brown (about 5-7 minutes).
Slice avocado, bell peppers, and butter lettuce.
Place one grilled cheese ‘bun’ on a plate. Add layer of sliced avocado, then the turkey breast slices and jalapenos.
Add a slice of Chipotle Gouda Cheese and top with cream cheese. Add layer of sliced bell peppers, lettuce and bacon before topping sandwich with the second grilled cheese ‘bun’.
Insert bamboo skewer through sandwich to hold it together. Add an orange cherry tomato, olive, and pepper to the top for decoration.
Now you’re done. Enjoy the game in style. But if you want to know a little more about the Leviathon sandwich read below. Don’t forget to vote for this sandwich in the Boar’s Head® Boldest Bracket Challenge!
The Leviathan isn’t as much a sandwich as it is a statement of manliness and excess built for a champion. We even think the inventor of basketball, James Naismith, would have put one of these down during an early 21st century halftime … if he could have.
Today, March Madness is one of the most epic tournaments in the country. The sandwiches we eat should be too. An event this big deserves a sandwich only Boar’s Head Bold can deliver. This March, fans will be demanding only the best performance from athletes and foodies alike. Livedan330.com has designed a sandwich using fresh ingredients from Boar’s Head Bold to deliver an epic sandwich that is worthy of March Madness. In fact, we measured and found that your jaw needs to have a 27-inch vertical just to put this thing in your mouth.
We put the recipe in this easy-to-follow format so you can make this at home or for your party. Below that are additional descriptions and pictures to help you on your journey.
Homemade Jalapeño Butter:
In a mason jar, we will combine 3/4 cup heavy whipping cream and a minced jalapeño. Shaken until the buttermilk separates out forming a whipped butter with a nice jalapeño kick.
Fresh Sourdough Grilled Boar’s Head Bold Chipotle Gouda Cheese Buns:
These buns aren’t anything you can buy at the store. They are gourmet grilled cheese made with Boar’s Head Bacon, Boar’s Head Bold Chipotle Gouda Cheese, fresh sourdough, and our homemade jalapeño butter.
Start by cooking bacon in your cast iron pan to flavor it. Then take two pieces of the cooked bacon and crumble them. Place two pieces of Boar’s Head Bold Chipotle Gouda Cheese and the crumbled bacon between each of the two fresh slices of sourdough bread (There will be two grilled cheese sandwiches total). Cover the outsides with our homemade jalapeño butter and grill in a cast iron pan. When both sides of the grilled cheese sandwiches are golden brown, set aside on paper towels so they don’t get soggy.
The “Guts” of this beast:
While we are making our Grilled Cheese buns we will also be getting to the core of this beast. In another cast-iron pan, melt one tablespoon of the jalapeño butter. Add 1/4 pound of Boar’s Head Bold Blackened Oven Roasted Turkey Breast. Add the jalapeño coins. Saute until golden brown.
Put This All Together
While the turkey is being heated, cut up the avocado bell peppers, and butter lettuce.
When the turkey is done (5-7 minutes on medium heat), place one of the grilled cheese buns on a plate. Add a layer of sliced avocado before adding a heaping pile the hot Boar’s Head Blackened Oven Roasted Turkey. Spread the cream cheese on top of the meat, add a layer of sliced bell peppers, lettuce, and bacon before closing the sandwich with the other grilled cheese bun. Now, add a bamboo grill skewer and run it through the sandwich to hold it together. Add an orange cherry tomato, olive, and pepper to the top.
