If you are on Pinterest, you most likely have seen pictures from Butchart Gardens. This is not an easy place to get to. The gardens are built on the site of an old quarry on Vancouver Island about a 40 minute drive from the town of Victoria. We were on a motorcycle trip from Minnesota to BC so we took the ferry from Port Angeles, WA to Victoria. The ferry ride is about 90 minutes long and crosses the Strait of Juan de Fuca. We saw people from a cruise ship that stopped in Victoria for the day visiting the gardens. Because the gardens are built on an island your most viable options are ferry or fly in by seaplane or commercial airline. The good news is that this garden is worth the effort to go see. I have never seen so may kinds of Dahlias. It was really hard to pick out a few of the very best dahlias of Butchart Gardens because they are all amazing.
Meet the Dan behind Dan330. He started a Pinterest account in December 2011 while off on a leave from his day job as a captain on an Airbus A330. While traveling the world, Dan practiced his longtime hobby of photography and developed his eye for natural beauty and appreciation of great photography.
Continuing his love of exploration and great pictures, Dan added Pinterest to his daily routine; especially during the long Minnesota winters. His eye for great photography was recognized by the Pinterest community and in just under one year, Dan330 had attracted over one million followers.
Dan and his wife Laurie have three children, seven grandchildren and two grand puppies.
When not pinning, Dan loves to travel and participate in just about any outdoor activity. There are a few exceptions to this, but to find out what they are you have to go to the Dan330 board dedicated to “Things he won’t do”.
