If you want to improve your overall health, you can’t do it in a few days, weeks, or even a few months. A healthy life is all about doing things consistently, so that you’re healthy for good rather than a short amount of time. You can’t rush it, and you shouldn’t do anything drastic. The following things are all things you can do every day to improve your overall health:
Eat Well
Eating as well as you can each day is the best thing you can possibly do for your body. Try to avoid eating junk food as much as possible, and fill your diet with healthy, whole, natural foods. Of course you can have a few treats here and there, but you should be eating mostly clean foods. Think of it as 80% clean, 20% treat. Get Some Exercise
Things You Can do Every Day to Improve Your Overall Health
Whether you go for a walk, jog, dance, or stretch, make sure you get in some exercise each day. It doesn’t have to be too strenuous. Usually a mix of intense and low intensity exercise is best for our bodies.
Drink Water
Water should be your main beverage. Aim to drink 2-3 litres per day. I recommend carrying a big bottle with you so you remember to drink from it. Try to avoid too much caffeine. If you must have coffee, drink up to 2 black cups with no sugar per day. Tea should be green. Milky, sugary drinks should be avoided and thought of as junk food.
Stay Clean
Make sure you shower and bathe regularly, wash your hands, and keep your hair clean. Your hygiene should be taken very seriously! People who don’t wash their hands or bathe regularly are at more risk of passing on germs and falling ill.
Cut Back on Rubbish
Learn about nutrition and cut back on rubbish food/drink. Stay away from processed, packaged food. Food that is labelled ‘diet’, or ‘low fat’ is not good for you either, due to the sheer amount of added ingredients and chemicals. Don’t kid yourself into thinking these are good!
Turn Down the Music
Loud music can seriously affect our hearing, and once our hearing is gone, it’s gone. Make sure you’re listening to your music for a maximum of 60 minutes per day, at 60% volume. You shouldn’t be drowning out background noise. You might just end up with a hearing aid if you aren’t careful – look here for more information.
Stand Up Straight
Your posture is very important too, so make sure you stand up straight. You don’t want to develop a hump as you age. Make sure you keep a good posture even when sitting, and especially when exercising.
Laugh
Laughing is good for us both mentally and physically. It helps to release more endorphins, which are our ‘happy hormone’. This means we have a greater sense of well being and feel happier in general!
Do these things each day and you’ll feel better than ever.
