Ribs are a summertime favorite! Shows and series have been dedicated to broadcasting recipes and cooking tips for the best ribs. There is no question ribs are an iconic American cuisine. Here’s the problem, most people aren’t experts, and most people don’t have fancy grills and smokers like you see on TV. But I have a awesome recipe for you to cook and all you really need is an oven and either a broiler or a grill. Do you know how to cook ribs in the oven? Cooking ribs in oven is just like making crockpot ribs. I want to show you my little trick you can do for both.

As always, we are teaming up with Spiceé Gourmet for our seasonings. They have excellent blends inspired by bloggers designed for everybody to make great cooking easy. We will be using their St. Louis Rib Rub. Check out their other grilling blends at the BBQ, Grilling and Smoking Collection.

What we do by cooking ribs in the oven is to slow cook them. Obviously, crockpot ribs will be the same. This will make them fall-apart tender, which many people love, then broil or grill them to caramelize the outside of the meat.

Ingredients:

Directions

Cooking ribs in the oven requires you to use a low heat at 250 degrees. Place the ribs in a pot with a little water to cover the bottom.Or, for crockpot ribs cover the bottom with water and cook on low. Now, generously sprinkle Spiceeé Gourmet St. Louis Rib Rub on top of the ribs covering them evenly. Cook for 6-8 hours.

Now that ribs are cooked, we want to make a nice texture on them. We will do that by either racking them in the oven and broiling the top, or by using a grill.

Using high heat on a grill, place the ribs meat side down to brown them. Then turn them over and turn the heat to very low or off. How to cook ribs in the oven only requires you to broil them on high until the meat side browns. Then turn the broiler off.

You can choose to add BBQ sauce to the top. After the heat is turned to very low or off, use a brush or spoon to coat the top of the ribs. By doing this, you will avoid making a mess and not waste any of your sauce. As the sauce heats up very gently on the grill or in the oven, it also makes a nice sticky texture to your ribs.
