What is Blab?

What is Blab? Welcome to Episode 2 of Daily Social Tips on Dan330.com. To see the entire series, go here. Blab is a great new live broadcasting platform, similar to Periscope, Meerkat, and now live streaming on Facebook. It is like Google Hangouts but many times better. While the platform is still in Beta mode, is seems to be fairly free of bugs and has proven to be a very valuable way to make good content fast.

What is Blab?

Think of it as live streaming with guests. It is more like a live podcast or broadcast radio station than anything else really. I have been hosting a show called Tasty Food Live for a couple of months and it has been great. Some of our episodes have gotten tens of thousands of views already.

What is Blab?

You can use it to host a show, have a guest, or to engage with your community. You can even use to interact with friends and family. If you want to follow me, check me out at https://blab.im/ChrisAshbach1 or our blog at https://blab.im/dan330msp.

Here’s the live stream for the day!

Hello Periscopers, Welcome to 2016 this is my first Peri of the year. I want to tell you that we are doing a year of live streaming. And we started off with a series yesterday of live streaming. Today we are doing a second episode and today we are introducing a platform called blab. Blab is similar to Periscope except you are allowed up to four people on the camera at a time. And what we do is, we are going to take the second year and introduce on what blab is but go ahead and upload and share and make some comments and we can get this thing rolling. This year is like I said is the year of live streaming. We are doing an episode today. I am going to be going back and forth on my FB live streaming and Periscope and if I have an event or something else going on I will be using Snapchat to tell the story today. The topics are primarily going to be social media, blogging and how to use these things on our blogs and everything else. Comments; cheers my bearded cub. Where is everyone from today? I have a shout out let me hear where y’all are from. But anyways, East coast I am sitting here in snowy Minnesota. It has been a heck of day had hockey practice, got up at 6 am, for that. And we had another Christmas thing and had couple hockey games tomorrow and one Monday night, and that’s kind of all we do here. So a little about me my name is Chris Ashbach I got a number of people on my blog on dan330.com I am one of the bloggers there we got 30 to 40 people from Campton, so if you guys are bloggers please check us out on dan330.com. I see someone from Hammond NY, excellent nice to see you all. Ok so I will get with it. Today I am introducing blab. Blab is a platform where up to 4 people can speak simultaneously at a time on live stream. When you go on the platform go on blab.im, they also have a great app that works, they are still in beta mode. They started I think in April, May in that kind of time frame. Basically think of it as a Google Hangout that works really really well. So what you need to do is have at least two people available, and when you have your two people you can get your blab up and going live make it public where everybody can watch. I am a blogger and what blogger should be doing is blabbing with guests. It is a great way to just have a conversation with other bloggers, so if you guys collaborate on something is a good thing to do there. Think of it as a live pod casting. If any of you like to listen to pod cast or watch pod cast, or produce a pod cast, this is the place to do it. It’s a great new platform. During the day you can just have blab running in the back and it is just a conversation with 2 to 4 people, about whatever topic it is you want to hear about. Blab is and you can run through the computers and listen to it. I also think of it as a broadcast radio talk show. So it works great that way. Otherwise you can host a show. I host a show with a guy named Nick Evans he owns muchismo.com. So Nick and I host a show called Tasty Food Life and it has been a great way to bring out all guests, we do food demonstrations, we just can’t talk about what is going on. If you go on dan330.com you can see our New Year’s show it’s still on our front page. Otherwise we have a little different section of all our blabs out there. Tasty Food Life is our thing. And if you are a blogger or use content or anything like that you should be on it too. It’s a new platform, its growing fast, it is wonderful. In fact, when we looked at it on new years’ several of our shows had over 10, 000 viewers so to us that is a big deal. There is not that many people on this platform yet so I am thrilled that is the kind of audience is reaching, hopefully in a couple of years it will get really big. Think of it as a way to bring out sponsors, it’s a way to bring out people that bring out your guests, your readers and interact with you in a new way. So all I do is we get our guests and we get our full demonstration lined up. We print out blog posts a week before hand. We advertise what we are going to have on the show and have people train us. People can make comments and watch live on camera if they want. And I invent the show on my site and we just make it a blog post. And what we do with the guest, now my audience, my guest audience, Nick’s audience is all watching our show. It’s a great way for bloggers to work together and grow on their sites as well. And then of course the bottom line the platform works. It is very new, it works, it has a couple of bugs but it’s still in beta. And I am consistently working on it and fixing it.
