How To Deal With Lower Back Pain
Lower back trouble is a pain; that is for sure. If you have ever felt it or are suffering, you will know all about it. It really has an effect on just about everything you do. You struggle to get out of bed and every time you have to move or adjust you’ll feel that nagging and pulling sensation. It is the most unpleasant feeling. If you have lower back issues, what are some of the things that you need to do?
Improve your posture.
Most of us were not born with back pain. So it is something that has developed as we have grown older. The premium cause of back pain is the tightening of the muscles that support the spine. This is in part down to too much sitting around! We are too sedentary for our own good. We sit at home and in the car. Increasingly we sit at work, and when we come home, our idea of relaxation is to sit on the sofa for hours.
Needless to say, all this sitting is doing us damage. It is not just the amount of sitting. It is the type of sitting. Our postures are really suffering. The couch, in particular, is criminal, but the car is not much better. The worst offender is that sloping stoop we adopt when we are at the computer. Your headache is caused by the simple fact that you are wrecking your spine!
You need to be at eye level with your screen. You need to be sitting up properly with lower back support. You need to take a break every 20 minutes and do some exercise to free up the spine and the muscles that support it. Pay attention to how you walk around. Especially if your shoulders are sloped forward. Ditch the heels and buy flat, supportive footwear.
Get a better bed
Most of us sleep on beds that do us no favours. They often have old mattresses that cannot support us properly. This is affecting our quality of sleep, but it is also affecting our posture. Lower back pain can be greatly helped by your choice of bed. Invest in a quality bed that will give you options in terms of the amount of support it can offer you. Adjustable air mattresses will help ease your lower back pain. They will help your lumbar support and the natural curve of the spine
Exercise.
If you are in pain now, you will have to be careful. A visit to a chiropractor or a physiotherapist will be a great help in learning how your posture can be improved. The one piece of advice that every professional will give you is to start a programme of exercise based upon Yoga postures. These poses can all be done on the floor or mat, and you can use support such as cushions to help you. The spine moves forwards and backwards so both of these bends will help ease any stiffness and pain. The spines also twists. A floor twist is easy to do and can ease tightness. Practice spinal twists every day along with gentle forward and backward bends. Never lift heavy objects without bending your knees.
Lower back pain is serious and debilitating, but there are steps you can take to make yourself well and be more flexible in the future.
