Easy Red Wine Ice Cream

Red wine ice cream is the perfect boozy summer dessert for girl’s night or a bridal shower.

I found several recipes on Pinterest but they required a cooked base and steeping or reducing the wine and lets be real. Ain’t nobody got time for that. Save for my old fashioned vanilla ice cream I much prefer my ice cream bases to be uncooked. They’re faster and creamier and generally produce a better soft serve consistency than a creme anglaise base, which is my preference.

I do still plunk the whole mixture in my handy dandy ice cream maker (aff) because the churning helps the sugar dissolve {kind of like whipping meringues until the sugar crystals are all gone} and because it produces a creamier texture. Don’t have an ice cream maker? No problem! You can just spread this into a container and stick it into the fridge for several hours until firm. Then enjoy the ice creamy red wine goodness. And don’t feel pressured to share. This recipe only makes enough for 2 anyway.
