A trip to the Hoover Dam

The Hoover Dam is one of the biggest tourist attractions in Las Vegas – and it is well worth a visit. It’s a monumental achievement of human design, technology, and construction. The sheer scale of it is breathtaking. Make sure that you visit the Visitors Center, and book yourself a guided tour. You’ll get to see the turbines that power the dam – and it won’t cost you a fortune. Be aware that young children beneath the age of 8 aren’t allowed to attend, for safety reasons.

Rafting in the Black Canyon

The Black Canyon is the perfect spot for some water rafting for all the family. There is no white water, so it’s a gentle experience set in incredible scenery. It’s a good option if you have young kids, as your rafting experience begins right at the wall of the dam – a view that not many people get to see. It’s also packed full of wildlife – again, perfect for the kids. The trip itself is around 12 miles long, finishing at Willow Beach. And, you’ll get the chance to swim in the water and springs that are dotted around on your journey.
