18 Baked Sweet Potato Recipes
Are sweet potatoes the ultimate vegetable? It’s a bold claim – but perhaps not far from the truth at all. I only started eating them myself a couple of years ago – but they’re now a staple part of my diet – and for very good reason.
Not only do they taste fantastic (I’m going to shock everyone by saying I’d pick them over regular potatoes now) but their natural sweetness means they can be used in savoury or sweet dishes – whatever you’re hankering for at the time. We’ve supplied a compilation of our favourite recipes in the list below.
But taste aside, it’s the nutritional aspect where sweet potatoes really come into their own. The nutrient content is phenomenal – one potato contains over a day’s worth of your recommended vitamin A daily target through it’s load of beta-carotene, lots of vitamin C and B6, B3, B2, B1, potassium and fibre – to name just a few.
A handful of the health benefits to expect are a lowering of blood pressure, regulating heartbeat, a lessening of artery hardness, no blood sugar spikes, more successful blood clotting and a whole lot more. The nutritional effects are so staggering that sweet potatoes are being used in initiatives to curb malnutrition over certain parts of Africa. What are you waiting for? Here are some amazing ways to get them down you.
