Got deadlines, bills to pay, and a to-do list as long as your arm? Then it may just be that you have some stress in your life. Now, no one’s life is going to be stress-free all of the time, and I don’t think we would want it that way either. It would certainly be pretty boring! But too much stress can have a terrible effect on your physical and mental health. Read on to find out more.
Causes of stress
What exactly causes stress? Well, in the modern world it can be all sort of things. For many people, it can be caused by their jobs. It might be a particularly busy time at work for them. Or it might be that they don’t really suit the role that they are doing. It could even be interpersonal stress caused by not getting on with some of their co-workers.
But it’s not just our jobs that stress us out. It can be our friends, family, and health too. This is often known as emotional stress, which occurs when something is bothering us. Such as a family feud that hasn’t been resolved or a loved one that is sick.
However, in all cases of stress, we seem to be able to cope best with ones that are short and resolvable. But when the situation has no obvious answer, that is when the stress can become overwhelming and cause significant issues in our lives.
Symptoms of stress
So now we know the sort of things that might cause stress, what do stressed folks look like? Well, there is no one size fits all type answer. As different people will show stress in different ways.
Some folks get irritable and have a lot less patience. Some folks eat more, to try and cover over these negative feels of stress. Others have trouble sleeping and can seem jumpy and anxious.
In fact, for some folks, it can be these symptoms that help them to recognize that they are stressed and need to take a step back from the situation. For example, it may be that you have started to withdraw into yourself, or you suspect that your labido is lower than normal?
If this is the case, then it’s best to get things checked out with a medical professional. As the sooner you know if you have low labido the better. Then you can find out whether it’s stress that is causing it and do something about it.
Things you can do to alleviate stress
So what exactly can we do about stress? Well, there are two main choices. Either we can use techniques that are designed to help us cope with stress better in our day to day lives like exercise, acupuncture, and yoga.
Or we can make the decision that the situation that is causing the stress isn’t worth the trade-off. Then we can change what we are doing so we don’t encounter it so frequently. Thus reducing the amount of stress that we have to deal with in our lives.
