Seared Tuna Steaks

This recipe made a fantastic dinner for my wife and I. But it would also be a great way to prepare slices of tuna as an appetizer with crackers or a meat tray as well. I have used this for entertaining too.

Here’s what you need to make this awesome tuna:

  • Tuna Steak
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 20-ish whole peppercorns
  • salt
  • cayenne pepper

In a non-stick frying pan, melt the butter with the olive oil and peppercorns. Cook on medium high heat for 5 minutes to brown the butter and release the pepper. The peppers will open and flavor the pan.

While you are preparing the butter and olive oil in the pan, rub some salt and cayenne pepper to taste on the raw tuna steaks.

When the butter is browned, turn the heat to high and put the steak in the pan for about 1 1/2 minutes. Flip and cook for another 1 1/2 minutes.

Serve with a dollop of wasabi.
