Drunken Apple Mixed Drink

Fall is my favorite time of year. Living in Minnesota, I just love all of the fresh apples, the wines, the cooler weather, and getting back in the school schedule and seeing friends again. One of the benefits of this time of year is the fresh picked apples.

This mixed drink takes fresh off of the tree apples and mixes them with cinnamon, bourbon, and a few hours on the deck with friends.

Ingredients:

  • One half of a fresh picked apple sliced
  • One shot of Bourbon
  • Splash of Simple Syrup
  • Lemon wedge juiced into glass
  • One shot apple cider
  • Cinnamon Stick for garnish
  • Four Cloves

In a tumbler or other glass, muddle two slices of an apple to release the juices. Then add the bourbon, simple syrup, lemon, and apple cider.  Mix well, add ice if desired, and garnish with cinnamon stick and cloves.

We found that letting this drink set for ten minutes blended the flavors together very nicely. The cinnamon, cloves, and fresh apple really added a lot to the drink and it is worth waiting if you are making just a glass or two. If you have company, make a pitcher.
