Just the other day I saw a quote from Abraham Lincoln where he warned us that:
“The problem with internet quotes is that you can’t always depend on their accuracy” -Abraham Lincoln, 1864So when I started reading about Maple leaves and the trees they come from, it was confusing. Some sources say that there are hundreds of varieties of maples and some say that there are thousands of types of maples. Let’s just go with there are a lot of different maples in the world.
Every morning I go for a walk. Yesterday was different because we finally saw some sunlight peeking through the clouds. The clouds and rain have been plaguing us for a while. The maple trees are peeking in color so it was quite a show. Halfway around my normal route I started collecting some of the different leaves I came across.
Here are some pictures we took of my collection:
Unfortunately my photography does not do the colors justice. The leaves range from a bright yellow to to deep burgundy and everything in between.
As you can see there all kinds of variation to the shapes as well as color. The size ranged from bigger than my hand spread out to the size of my finger print. What a fun project!
We had our first snow of the year and that speeds up the process of leaves falling from the trees. They are still colorful for a day or two and then they wither and the color fades.
If it is nice out where you live, quit reading this and get outside and enjoy it. There are so many wonderful things to see in this world and all the nature stuff is free!
