Crab Fishing in San Francisco

webIMG_1115text

On a recent trip to San Francisco, I stumbled upon a pier in Sausalito. As I was looking out at the water, I noticed these guys literally running with a pole and overhead casting it like they were trying to hurl a cannon ball at Alcatraz. Reminded a little bit about the local freshwater fisherman who try to catch a 1 pound bass with a 2 and a half pound Rapala, I was kind of joking when I asked what they were fishing for.

Hoping to hear something like “Great White Sharks,” I was surprised and intrigued when they told me they were catching crabs.
