Mix Your Plants

You might already have pretty flowers in your garden, but herbs and vegetables are great too! Why not use herbs to edge your borders? This can give a great look and smell to your garden, as well as give you something extra to cook with!

Accentuate Texture

You shouldn’t solely pay attention to the colour of the foliage, but the texture too. The texture of your plants can add a boatload more interest to your garden, especially if they contrast each other nicely. You can create all kinds of effects by using the texture of certain plants. More traditional planters for the garden can look great too, especially in conjunction with trees and shrubs!

Design a Magical Entrance

By defining the entrance to your garden, you can make a big statement and make everything seem so much more magical. You can use whatever you find appropriate, but conifers and alpine plants look really cool and make a big statement.

Have a Relaxation Spot

Gardens aren’t just about getting your hands dirty and making things look nice. You need to have a magical spot in your garden where you can relax and enjoy it! A decorative table and chair can look cool and inviting. Enjoy a cool drink here, read a book, do some work – just enjoy your outdoor space!

Grow Lovely Smelling Herbs

Herbs planted in window boxes and containers are perfect for quickly snipping and using in your soups, salads, and sauces. An amazing idea for any budding chef/gardener!

Create a Dramatic Effect

You can often used oversized plants to create a bit of drama in the garden. Carefully place larger plants and trees next to an area you’d like to accentuate, like a pond or waterfall, to make it look even more dramatic and noticeable.

Create Height With Structures

You can help to lift your landscape by adding high points using structures you like the look of. For example, using tall pillars will add an element of mystery! This looks awesome in summer and the whole garden will look lovely.

Add Rich, Dark Colours

Your garden will profit from the addition of rich, dark plants – almost black, purple plants can be an enchanting addition to the garden. You’ll love the effect they create!

The only limit when designing a cool, magical looking garden is your imagination. You can create any kind of space you like, so don’t hesitate to get creative, planning, and following the advice in this post. Let us know how you got on with the tips in the comments!
