Here’s a great finger food! It’s made of bacon and water chestnuts and has a very simple sauce that you pour over the top after it cooks. Bacon wrapped water chestnuts are a great finger food perfect for an appetizer or for tailgating. The fatty bacon complements the crispness of the water chestnut perfectly and the sauce makes it a perfect balance of fattiness, sweetness, chewiness and crispness.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups brown sugar
- 1 cup ketchup
- 3 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
- 2 cans of water chestnuts
- 1 pound of bacon cut in half
Instructions:
- Mix the brown sugar, ketchup and worcestershire sauce in a large bowl.
- Wrap the cut bacon around each water chestnut and stick with a toothpick.
- Bake at 375 for 15 minutes. We check ours at about 10 minutes. They are usually most of the way cooked. It is good to turn them at this point.
- Remove from oven when the bacon is cooked and pour the sauce over it.
- Bake an additional 20-30 minutes.
Yum! Well, I have some eating to do.
