
late Sunflowers – a new Fall tradition?
Sunflowers always make me think of summertime. Their big round pan of flowers resembles the sun, with the petals projecting outward like colorful rays of light. The sight of a sunflower brings images of warm breezes and buzzing bees to my mind. Like most folks, I had always sown sunflower seeds in the later part of spring to enjoy the summer flowers.
Recently, I discovered that later plantings of sunflower can be enjoyed on into the Fall. Sunflowers are tolerant of frost and mature sunflower plants can survive temperatures as low as 25 degrees! Read more about how to enjoy late sunflowers in your garden…
