A Delight Full Twist to an Old Family Favorite
- This article is sponsored by Nestle Toll House
This time of year most of us are baking everything from cookies to brownies to special cakes. While a lot of people are searching online for ideas this year, we decided to look through some old family recipes for our inspiration. We decided to go with an old favorite….with a twist. Recently we found a new product that we think adds a fun new dimension to some of our favorite family recipes.
We are fortunate to have saved these old recipes from both sides of our family. Many of them are still on index cards we keep in an old oak box. What a treasure to have. This collection of our grandmother’s favorite recipes are often hand written or typed, full of stains and smudges from decades of use. What is a typewriter anyway??? The meals or desserts prepared from these recipes continue to be favorites for our kids and grandchildren.
For this post we are doing chocolate chip cookies using Toll House Delight Full morsels. At the bottom of the post we are also showing some other ideas we had for using the morsels.
Here is our recipe:
Chocolate Chip Cookies with a twist
Ingredients:
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups chocolate chips (we used Toll House Delight Full morsels)
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 3/4 cup white sugar
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 sticks of butter
- 2 1/3 cups of flour (all purpose)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup of chopped walnuts (optional)
Instructions:
Preheat Oven to 375
Using a separate bowl mix salt, flour and baking soda
In a mixing bowl combine vanilla, butter, white and brown sugar until a smooth creamy texture. Add eggs while continuing to beat the ingredients. Add Flour mixture in while beating. Gently add the Toll House Delight Full morsels of your choice.
Optional: Add chopped nuts.
Refrigerate cookie dough for best results.
When dough is cooled and ready to bake, place dough on ungreased baking sheets.
Bake for 8 – 10 minutes until done. Let the cookies rest on the baking sheet after removing from oven. After 3 minutes place cookies from baking sheet to wire rack for cooling.
