6 Satisfying Home Improvement Projects You Should Take On This Summer

The summer is the perfect time to take on home upgrades. The warmer weather makes working outside a joy. You can get out in the sun and make some serious improvements to your home. Best of all, you can take on jobs that make those summer months even more enjoyable. Transform your garden into an outdoor entertaining venue, for example. After the long, dark winter months, it’s fun to get stuck into the to-do list. That’s right, it’s time to tackle the big jobs that have been building up over the months.

A summer project is a great way to spend the warmer months. It’s a good chance to add value to your house or simply improve your living comfort. Upgrading your home is especially important for older properties. You can use this opportunity to tighten up the efficiency for the impending colder months. Improving insulation and replacing windows, for example, will help lower your fuel bills over winter. As you can see, there are plenty of great reasons to take on a big home improvement project. Let’s dive into some examples, shall we?

  1. Install air conditioning

We love the summer. We enjoy the warm heat waves and long, lazy days. But, we hate those stuffy summer nights! It’s wonderful to get outside and enjoy the sun. Unfortunately, it’s awful getting stuck inside during this heat. Installing air conditioning is one fantastic way to keep cool over the summer. It’s easier than you think too. With the right installation team, you can get your new air conditioning up and running in a day. If you’ve got an old, broken system in the home, make air conditioning repair a priority. Start your summer with a fresh, cool breeze throughout your house.

  1. Build a garden deck

Summer evenings are perfect for spending time with friends and family. You can sit out in the garden, enjoy a barbecue and a few drinks. The warm nights stretch into the evening, and you can all finish the night under the stars. Of course, to do this, you need a dedicated social area. We particularly love the aesthetic of a wooden garden deck. Again, they’re surprisingly easy to build if you’re comfortable with DIY and woodwork. Start with some solid timber and a simple foundation. From there, it’s a case of laying the timber and securing it in place.

  1. Repair or replace windows

Summer is the perfect time to get on with some energy efficient repairs. That way, you’ll be all set up for the colder winter months. You won’t have to crank up the electricity or run up huge heating bills. Start with simple window repairs or replacements. If you live in an older property, you may be struggling with single glazing windows. Take this opportunity to replace them with double or triple glazed alternatives. They keep your home warm during the winter and cool in the summer. Best of all, they tend to pay for themselves by adding value to your property.

  1. Power washing

You’ll want to take the opportunity to spend as much time as possible out in the garden this summer. There are plenty of little repair jobs here such as fence and shed repair. Any wooden structures will benefit from some care and attention. However, our favourite job is power-washing the patio. It blows away the dust and grime that builds up over the winter. In its place, you’ll leave stunning clean walkways and paths. The difference still amazes us every time we do it!

  1. Redo the exterior fascia

Redoing the external rendering or fascia is a big task. You may need to bring in the professionals here too. But, it’s well worth it. A brand new, modern fascia will improve the aesthetic of your house enormously. You’ll breathe new life into the house and drastically improve its curb appeal. That means it will add value to any potential sale price. More importantly, it means an added sense of pride and care in your home.

  1. New paving and walkways

We mentioned power-washing the walkways and patio before. Well, you could go one step further and replace them entirely. It doesn’t take long for cracks to appear and weeds to infiltrate. Patios, driveways, and paths get severely worn down over time, so perhaps it’s time for a change. If you take on this project yourself, it needn’t be too expensive either. Choose paving slabs that provide value for money, and you’ll have it done in no time.

There you have it, folks! Which project are you looking forward to taking on this summer?
