Hills Inn Hot Springs, South Dakota
We spent a couple of nights at the Hills Inn while we explored the Hot Springs area. This is a charming hotel situated along the Fall River. Owners Wally and Donna we there to greet us upon our arrival and made us feel very welcome.
We were travelling by motorcycle and found this to be a very accomodating hotel. Parking was right outside our door. With all the gear we were hauling, this was a nice change from big hotels where you have to hope for a luggage cart and an elevator. There was even enough room on the walkway out front to park our bikes to keep them covered.
The Hills Inn, while not really downtown, is convenient to many local attractions like the Mammoth Site and Evans Plunge. There is a beautiful path along the river, the Freedom Trail, that you can take to get downtown. If like there is a mini golf course next to the Inn that is free for guests. I am sure the kids will like the course. Check out the panarama of the mini-golf:
There is a heated pool as well which was very popular during our visit as it was quite hot. The sparkling blue was was very inviting after a hot day of riding.
The Hills Inn was a great place to stay for a few days. They had small refridgerator and microwave in the room. It was always nice to come back to our room and have cold beverages waiting for us in the fridge. We found the continental breakfast to be a great way to start your day of exploring the Hot Springs area.
The Hills Inn was recently awarded the Chamber of Commerce Hospitality Award for 2015. The customers of the Hills Inn have made it the #1 place to stay in Hot Springs by TripAdvisor.com.

Captain Dan’s Tips: Play the mini- golf, it is a really nice course. Chat with Wally in the office, he is a very interesting guy and a wealth of knowledge about the Hot Springs area. This hotel is very motorcycle friendly so it is a great choice for bikers visiting the Black Hills or Sturgis rally.
