DIY Christmas Mantel Decor

What started as a simple knitted snowflake and some tipsy wine pines for hostess gifts, turned into a full blown Christmas Mantel. After knitting the snowflake and tiny pines, I wondered how hard it would be to do an i-cord swag with a little snowflake like embellishments. Not so hard, as it turns out, and sewing beads into the flakes was easy and dramatic.

Once the tiny pines were completed I couldn’t help but wonder how they would look in larger sizes and with beads. Here are a few I put together. You can use almost any yarn in any color palette and make a forest of these little cable trees to use in your home decor.

I hope this gives you some inspiration! The tree pattern for the tiniest pines are in the tipsy wine pine post and are from the creative people at Simply Notable.  Be sure to check them out.  If you want the pattern for the larger pines or the garland, just message me and I’ll let you know when they are available on ravelry.  Until then, happy knitting and have fun creating a DIY Christmas mantel decor of your own for next year.
