Our Favorite Dutch Apple Pie Recipe

My mother used to make the best apple pie. Now, I don’t really love pie. Some are too gooey and the crust is dry. I much rather a crumble crust. Maybe because that’s what my mom’s pie was like. She made a tradition bottom crust with a strudel or crumble crust with fresh tart apples piled high. Some people refer to this type of as a dutch apple pie.
One of my best girl friends, shared with me some of her secrets for her dutch apple pie, which is pretty close to mom’s original.
