Easy Mango Tomatillo Salsa

So what exactly are tomatillos? Well, literally translated it means little tomato. Yes, they are from the same botanical family as tomatoes, but the similarities end there. Tomatillos are a small green tomato covered in a thin green paper-like husk. Make sure you thoroughly remove the husk and rinse the tomatillos. The husk can be leave a bit of a sticky residues that you don’t want in your mango tomatillo salsa. Tomatillos are super tart, so they pair up nicely with the deliciously sweet mangoes. Tomatillos have been around for a long time, since about 800 B.C. They were initially domesticated by the Aztecs who included them into many of their dishes.
