Four Fantastic Design Tips to Help You Make the Most of a Small Bathroom
If you have a small bathroom, then it can feel a little frustrating trying to fit everything in. First of all, you need to think about the positioning of everything. How far apart can the toilet and sink be? Is there space for a stand alone shower? Then that is all before even thinking about where all the towels and toiletries are going to go. But whatever the size of the bathroom, you want to make the most of it. So here are a few ideas of how you can make the most of a small bathroom.
Use a Corner Sink
If you have a stand alone sink, then it is surprising how much it can block the passageway in the bathroom. If you find that your bathroom can be quite busy and people need to use it at the same time, then this is a good option. A corner sink can save space that wouldn’t be used otherwise. So definitely worth considering. The round shape of a corner sink is a good feature too. If you have pointy square edges, then in a small space, they can be a hazard.
Use Storage Wisely
When you have a small space to fill, you need to be smart about how things are stored. If you have any space under the sink, then it is worth taking advantage of that. If you don’t, it might be worth looking at bathroom sink cabinets. The more you can hide away, the less cluttered the room will be. The less cluttered; the larger the space will look. If you can, install some shelving on the walls. Then all of your things won’t be cluttering up the cabinet or by the sink. Floating shelves look really effective, as well as using something like a wire wine rack. It might sound silly, but they are great to use for storing towels as they can be rolled up.
Use Large Patterns
When you decorate, it massively affects how the room looks. Colours can affect the mood of the room, but patterns can affect how big the room looks. If you use wide stripes, it kind of plays a trick on the eyes. It can make us think of an expanding space, making the room look bigger than it is. So it might be worth avoiding tiny mosaic tiles in a small bathroom.
Use a Large Mirror
Mirrors are great to have around the home. They reflect light, making the home look nice and bright. They also help to make rooms look a little larger, as they’ll look like they go on and on. In a small bathroom, they also have a practical function. If the mirror is large, it means that more than one person can use the bathroom at the same time. Someone could be brushing their teeth by the sink and not be bothering someone styling their hair using the mirror.
