Pineapple BBQ Crock Pot Baked Beans

Pineapple BBQ Crock Pot Baked Beans

Want to be the star of your next potluck or tailgating party? Bring these Pineapple BBQ Crock Pot Baked Beans – they are the highlight of any picnic!

I have always loved baked beans.

Growing up, we used to have them over French toast for an easy dinner. In hindsight, it was probably on those nights neither of my parents had the energy to cook a big meal but wanted us to have something warm. For us kids, it was one of the most looked-forward-to dinners.

During the time I lived in the UK, worked my butt off at a coffee shop for minimum wage and lived in a hostel, I’d often revert back to that old stand-by meal I knew from my childhood.

I had barely anything to spend on food, so on most nights I would get a can of store-brand baked beans for 0.29£, a bag of carrots for 0.99£ and eat it with a slice or two of wholemeal bread.

That’s dinner for under 3 Dollars, filling and probably the healthiest I could do for that kind of money.

Even though I’m in a totally different place now (as in, two kids and husband and house different place), I havent lost my love for baked beans at all.

I have made my own beans in the past and I even attempted to make them totally from scratch with dried beans, actually baked in a Dutch oven, for this blog a couple of years ago – boo, I just couldn’t get it to work!

They’re easy to make on the stovetop, but the flavors just melt together so much more in a crockpot. Plus it’s super easy to bring them to a potluck or tailgating that way – you could even keep them warm by plugging the slow cooker into the outlet of your car.

Here I’m sharing one of my all-time favorite versions – a Hawaiian BBQ one.

If you’re a pineapple lover, you cannot miss making this one. And if you’re having one of those days and you just know you don’t feel like cooking dinner for the kids later – set up your crock pot first thing in the morning and you’ll know a cozy dinner will be waiting in the evening.

Don’t feel bad about it, either – it will probably turn out to be the ultimate highlight for your little ones.
