Tip number 6:

Avoid overhangs or places where heavy drainage can damage your plant or erode the soil in it’s container. I have actually made this mistake before and nearly killed a tree.

Tip number 7:

Gently spray your plants with a hose. When they are left inside for long periods of time dust can build up. Plus, this will help reduce the stress of a move.

Tip number 8:

Make sure you move your plants to an area where they get the right amount of sun. Two years ago, not knowing any better, I put my ginger in full sun. The plants struggled all year and I didn’t realize it. They did wonderful in the spring and fall, but barely survived my mid summer. I’m sure this reduce the ginger root that I harvested.

Tip number 9:

Put blocks under your pots. This will help minimize the amount of staining on wood and concrete.
